After reeling under bone-chilling cold for the past couple of days, the residents of Odisha are all set to get some respite from the inclement weather with the weather department predicting rise in mercury from today.

The India Meteorological Department’s regional centre in Bhubaneswar informed that the night temperature will rise and the cold wave conditions that had thrown the life of people out of gear, will recede in the State from tonight.

The weather office said the temperature my rise by 3 to 4 degree Celsius under the influence of some conditions over Bay of Bengal in the next few days, much to the relief of the residents. 

It said the interior parts of the State are likely to witness rainfall activities under the impact of western disturbance from February 3. 

The extent of the rainfall will increase during the next two days on February 4 and 5. 

In its weather bulletin issued yesterday, the IMD said light to moderate Rain/Thundershower very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of North Interior Odisha and Sonepur and dry weather very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.

Shallow to moderate fog may also prevail in some places over several districts in the next couple of days.
