Under the influence of cyclonic circulation over coastal Andhra Pradesh and its neighborhood, many places in coastal areas and a few districts in southern parts of Odisha are experiencing torrential rains since the last few days.

As per India Meteorological Department (IMD) sources, rainfall activities are likely to continue in the State till October 9.

Koraput and Ganjam districts experienced heavy rains in the last 24 hours. Besides, most parts of the State witnessed light to moderate rainfall. South Odisha is also likely to experience heavy rainfall today.

As per IMD meteorologist Umasankar Das, coastal areas from Balasore to Gajapati will be the most affected.

“Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada and South Odisha districts will experience heavy downpour. It is predicted that Bhubaneswar and Cuttack will experience light to moderate rainfall for the next two to three days,” said Das.

As per the prediction, light to moderate rainfall and thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of coastal Odisha and at a few places over the remaining districts till October 9.
