Rain, Thunder Shower To Lash Odisha, IMD Issues Yellow Warning For 22 Districts

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday issued Yellow Warning to 22 districts of Odisha over possibilities of rain and thunderstorm activities in the next 24 hours.

The districts for which the alert has been issued are Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Boudh, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Nuapada.

“Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over these districts in the next 24 hours,” the Met dept said in its Midday weather bulletin.

The weather office also sounded Yellow Warning for several districts in the State till June 11.

Day 1 (valid from 1330 hrs IST of 08.06.2021 up to 0830 hrs IST of 09.06.2021)

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri,Koraput, Nawarangpur, Nuapada, Mayurbhanj.

Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Boudh, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj.

Day 2 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 09.06.2021 up to 0830 hrs IST of 10.06.2021)

Yellow Warning:  Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Nabarangpur, Koraput.

Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati,Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Angul, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal.

Day 3 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 10.06.2021 up to 0830 hrs IST of 11.06.2021)

Yellow Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Boudh, Kandhamal and heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Kalahandi, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj.

Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Sonepur, Boudh, Nayagarh, Khurda, Ganjam, Puri.
