Low Pressure: IMD predicts heavy rainfall in Odisha districts
Gigantic pandals are all set up welcome ‘Vigynaharta’ Lord Ganesh. Already the special rituals have begun at various temples, educational institutions, homes and other clubs across Odisha on auspicious Ganesh Chaturthi on Saturday.
However, the formation of low pressure area may dampen Ganesh puja festivities as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow warning for rain and thunderstorm activities in some parts of Odisha.
As per IMD, the low pressure area over central and adjoining north Bay of Bengal is likely to move slowly nearly northwards and intensify into Depression over northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas of Gangetic West Bengal, north Odisha and Bangladesh coasts around September 9.
The weather agency further said that the system is likely to move westnorthwestwards across Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining north Odisha, Jharkhand and adjoining north Chhattisgarh during subsequent 3-4 days.

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Puri, Khordha, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur.
Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 08.09.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 09.09.2024)
Yellow Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) is very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Sambalpur, Angul.
Day 4 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 09.09.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 10.09.2024)
Yellow Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) is very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda.
