Several places in Odisha witnessed light to moderate rain and thunderstorm activity under the influence of western disturbance on Saturday. 

According to a weather bulletin issued by the local MeT office in Bhubaneswar, light to moderate rain was reported at most places over the districts of North and  South Odisha, while heavy rainfall occurred at one or two places over the districts of Kandhamal and Cuttack. 

Hailstorm activity with gusty surface wind was reported in Dhenkanal and Daringbadi in Kandhamal district.

“Most of the districts in north Odisha and many places in south Odisha experienced rain in the last 24 hours. Daringbadi in Kandhamal district reported highest 67 mm rainfall,” HR Biswas, Director of IMD’s Regional Centre said

On the other hand, the maximum temperature (Day temperature) is very likely to rise gradually by 3-5 degrees Celsius after 24 hours at many places over the districts of Odisha, the weather department predicted.

In the meantime, thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind with speed reaching up to 40- 50 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, the MeT office predicted.
