Possible Cyclone threat: Depression over southeast BoB around May 8, system likely to intensify, says IMD

As per the IMD, a cyclonic circulation is likely to develop over the Southeast Bay of Bengal around May 6, 2023. Under its influence, a low pressure area is likely to form over the same region around May 7.

With all eyes now on the probable cyclonic storm brewing in the southeast Bay of Bengal, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday shared the latest update about the system.

As per the IMD, a cyclonic circulation is likely to develop over the Southeast Bay of Bengal around May 6, 2023. Under its influence, a low pressure area is likely to form over the same region around May 7.

The weather bureau said the system is likely to concentrate into a depression over Southeast Bay of Bengal on May 8, 2023.

“Thereafter, there is a good possibility of its intensification while moving nearly northwards towards central Bay of Bengal,” said IMD.

As per IMD, the details of its path and intensification will be provided after the formation of low pressure area. The system is under watch and is being monitored regularly.
