Orange, yellow alert for Odisha districts for thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds: IMD

Several parts of Odisha are now experiencing light to moderate rain and thunderstorm activities over the past couple of days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday predicted that thunderstorm and lightning activities will continue for the next few days in the different pockets of the state.

An orange and yellow warning has also been issued by the IMD. However, there will be no large change in the minimum temperature (night temperature) during the next 4-5 days over the districts of Odisha.

Day 1 (Valid upto 0830 hrs IST of 22.02.2025)

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak.

Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 22.02.2025 to 0830 hrs IST of 23.02.2025)

Orange Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning, gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph and hail is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhargarh, Balasore. 

Yellow Warning (Be aware): Thunderstorm with lightning, gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Boudh, Nayagarh, Khurda, Puri, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur.

Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 23.02.2025 to 0830 hrs IST of 24.02.2025)

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhargarh, Balasore, Bhadrak, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Kendrapada.

Day 4 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 24.02.2025 to 0830 hrs IST of 25.02.2025)

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Mayurbhanj.
