Odisha weather updates: These districts to experience thunderstorm, hailstorm

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday predicted that several districts of Odisha will continue to experience thunderstorm activities in the next couple of days.

A ‘yellow warning’ for thunderstorm and lightning has also been issued by the IMD. As per the IMD, there will be no large change in the maximum temperature at many places over the districts of Odisha.

“The maximum temperature is likely to be 42 degrees C or more at one or two places over the districts of Interior Odisha during the next five days,” said IMD.

Day 1 (Valid upto 0830 hrs IST of 30.05.2023)

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind with speed reaching up to 40-50 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar.

Hailstorm is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, and Koraput. Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nuapada, Bargarh, Keonjhar, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Balasore, Bhadrak, Bolangir.

Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 30.05.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 31.05.2023)

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, and Kandhamal.

Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 31.05.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 01.06.2023)

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind with speed reaching up to 40-50 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Gajapati, Ganjam.

Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Khordha, Puri, Cuttack, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar.

Day 4 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 01.06.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 02.06.2023)

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Kandhamal.

Day 5 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 02.06.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 03.06.2023)

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput.
