The grueling heat wave conditions that have thrown life out of gear in the state will continue in some districts of Odisha, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted on Saturday.

The IMD's regional centre in Bhubaneswar issued a press release predicting hot weather conditions in some parts of interior Odisha and also shared details about the ongoing moderate thunderstorm with lightning activity over some districts.

"Heat wave condition is very likely to prevail at isolated places over the districts of Bolangir, Boudh, Sonepur, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda on June 4 and over the districts of Bolangir, Boudh, Sonepur, Bargarh on June 5 and 6," the IMD said.

The weather office said there will be no large change in maximum temperature (day temperature) at many places over the districts of Odisha during next 4-5 days.

Here are other observations of the weather office:

Current meteorological features:

An east west trough runs from a cyclonic circulation over east Uttar Pradesh to Nagaland across Bihar, Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Assam at 0.9 km above mean sea level persists. Also a north south trough runs from Bihar to north Coastal Andhra Pradesh across Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh at 1.5 km above mean sea level.

Heat wave impact and action suggested:

2. It is advised to take precautionary measures for hot weather while going outside during day time (around 1100 isT-1500 1ST)

Rainfall and thunderstorm forecast: Isolated light to moderate rain/thunderstorm and lightning activity is very likely in some districts of Odisha during the next five days.
