As per the latest update, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts are likely to witness extremely heavy rainfall, prompting the IMD to issue a Red Alert for both regions. Authorities are advised to remain on high alert for potential flooding, waterlogging, and landslides in these vulnerable areas.
Orange Warning for 10 Districts
Ten other districts are under Orange Warning, indicating the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall. These districts include:
Bargarh
Jharsuguda
Sambalpur
Deogarh
Angul
Dhenkanal
Sundargarh
Balasore
Bhadrak
Jajpur
The IMD has urged residents in these areas to avoid unnecessary travel, and local administrations have been directed to stay prepared for emergency response and evacuation if necessary.
Yellow Alert for the Rest of the State
A Yellow Alert has been issued for the remaining districts, forecasting moderate to heavy rainfall in scattered locations. While not as severe as red or orange zones, these areas are still advised to stay cautious, especially near rivers, low-lying regions, and landslide-prone zones.

The department has advised farmers, commuters, and disaster response teams to stay updated through official alerts and avoid taking risks in flood-prone or vulnerable areas.
Precautionary Measures Urged
In light of these developments, the Odisha Disaster Management Authority and local administrative units have been placed on high alert. Emergency control rooms have been activated, and preparations are underway for possible rescue operations in the event of floods or landslides.
