Odisha to witness rising temperatures from tomorrow: IMD

As winter bids farewell, Odisha is set to face an impending surge in heat, with the Meteorological Department forecasting a significant rise in temperatures beginning tomorrow.

The Meteorological Department has issued a warning that the next week is going to be no different in terms of respite from the heat, as temperatures are expected to rise by 2 to 4 degrees above normal levels.

“There is no possibility of rain in Odisha for the next five to seven days, with dry weather expected to prevail. The minimum temperature is not expected to change within the next 24 hours, but an increase of 2 to 3 degrees Celsius is likely thereafter,” said Manorama Mohanty, Director of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar.

She further added that a fog warning has been issued for the next three days. Daytime and nighttime temperatures are likely to rise starting tomorrow, thus making the entire state feel warmer.

The majority of the cities reported a sudden rise in temperature, which was seen as a signal that the winter season has ended.

However, this increase in temperature is accompanied by a dense fog warning from the department, which may affect the visibility level in the next 48 hours.

The yellow alert has been activated for 24 districts, cautioning the public to be cautious in their daily activities.

Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Khordha, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Anugul, Jajpur, Deogarh, Sambalpur and Keonjhar are the districts on alert.

Due to these changing weather dynamics, light to moderate fog along the coastal districts of Odisha is expected on January 31. With this change in the state's weather pattern, it is advised to take all measures to be prepared for such volatile temperatures and conditions of low visibility.
