With the forecast of a cyclone brewing over the Bay of Bengal, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday predicted that thunderstorm activities will continue in Odisha till May 6, 2023. The IMD has also issued a yellow warning for thunderstorm with lightning in several parts of the state.

“There will be no large change in the maximum (day) temperature over the districts of Odisha during the next three days and a gradual rise by three to five degrees Celsius,” said the IMD.

Weather Forecast And Warnings

Day 1 (Valid upto 0830 hrs IST of 04.05.2023)

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Angul, Sambalpur, Boudh, Sonepur, Bolangir, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Rayagada and Koraput.

Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 04.05.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 05.05.2023)

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Sambalpur, Deogarh ,Koraput, Nabarangpur, Nuapada and Kalahandi.

Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 05.05.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 06.05.2023)

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Jharsuguda, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Balasore, and Bargarh.

Day 4 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 06.05.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 07.05.2023)

Light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur in a few places over the districts of North Coastal Odisha, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Dhenkanal.
