Odisha SRC issues advisory amidst IMD’s forecast for rise in maximum temperature

As per the IMD’s forecast, the maximum or day temperature is likely to rise gradually by 3 to 5 degree Celsius over the interior districts of Odisha during the next four to five days.

The officer of the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) on Sunday issued an advisory to all district Collectors to take appropriate measures in view of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast regarding a steep rise in the maximum temperature in Odisha which may touch the 40-degree mark.

As per the IMD’s forecast, the maximum or day temperature is likely to rise gradually by 3 to 5 degree Celsius over the interior districts of Odisha during the next four to five days.

Alert for Six Districts:

As per the SRC office, the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Boudh and Bolangir have recorded maximum temperature of 37 degree C and above and the temperature is very likely to increase further about 40 degree C and above over isolated places during next five days.

As per the SRC advisory, the heat is tolerable for general public but it may cause slight health concern for vulnerable people like infant, elderly and sick ones. 

The districts Collectors have been asked to advise people to take appropriate precautionary measures in view of the IMD forecast for rise in temperature.

People have been advised to take maximum precaution while going out between 11 am and 3:30 pm.
