Odisha continues to reel under intense heat wave conditions with several places recording temperature above 30 degree Celsius by 11.30 am on Thursday.

According to Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre, Jharsuguda emerged as the hottest city with the mercury reaching up to 39.2 degree Celsius by 11.30 am followed by Balasore and Chandbali (39).

While the state capital Bhubaneswar recorded 38.6 degree Celsius, Sambalpur boiled at 38.2 degree Celsius followed by Keonjhar (37.6), Hirakud (37.4), Gopalpur (34.6), Puri (33.4) and Paradip (33).

As per the latest IMD forecast, the heat wave conditions are likely to prevail in some parts of interior Odisha from April 13 to April 15. 

The IMD further informed that the maximum (day) temperature is also likely to rise by 2 to 3 degree Celsius in several parts of the state in the next four days.

Earlier yesterday, the western Odisha town of Jharsuguda turned out to be the hottest place in Asia.

As per the IMD, Jharsuguda town recorded a maximum temperature of 43 degrees Celsius today, the highest for any town in Asia.
