No information regarding cyclone, says IMD scientist

Clearing the air on the rumours surrounding several reports regarding an impending cyclone, Uma Shankar Das, Scientist IMD Bhubaneswar, on Saturday said no information regarding the cyclone has been issued by the IMD.

According to Das, the IMD in its recent forecast had predicted the formation of a cyclonic circulation/low pressure between September 2 and September 8, 2022. Only after the system forms, the necessary forecast will be made in this regard, he said.

As monsoon has not yet withdrawn, no assessment regarding cyclone has been made by IMD. "We will issue necessary forecast and warnings only after the low-pressure system forms. Even the IMD has not predicted the date regarding the formation of the low pressure yet," said Das.
