The Southwest monsoon is active over Odisha and the well-marked Low pressure area over northwest Jharkhand and neighbourhood now lies over north Jharkhand and adjoining Bihar, said India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday.

As per IMD, there is no possibility of heavy rainfall activities in Odisha till October 5. However, several parts of the State will continue to experience light to moderate rain and thunderstorm activities in the next 48 hours.

The Regional Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar has issued thunderstorm with lightning alert for 11 districts of Odisha in the next 24 hours. The districts include, Nuapada, Bolangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.

 

Weather forecast and warning for districts of Odisha for next five days: Day 1 (valid from 1330 hrs IST of 30.09.2021 up to 0830 hrs IST of 01.10.2021) Yellow Warning (To be updated): Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nuapada, Bolangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj. Day-2 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 01.10.2021 up to 0830 hrs IST of 02.10.2021) Yellow Warning (To be updated): Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul. Day-3 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 02.10.2021up to 0830 hrs IST of 03.10.2021) Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Odisha. As per IMD, several parts of Odisha will continue to experience rain and thunderstorm activities till October 5, 2021.
