No change in max temp; thunderstorm likely in several Odisha districts: IMD

Intense heat wave conditions are causing all sorts of inconveniences to people across Odisha. No respite seems to be ahead as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday predicted no change in the maximum temperature.

As per the IMD, there will be no large change in the maximum (Day) temperature at many places over the districts of Odisha during the next five days.

“It is likely to be 42 degrees Celsius or more at a few places during the next three days over some districts of Interior Odisha- Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Angul, Boudh, Sonepur, Bolangir, Jharsuguda,Bargarh,” said IMD.

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind with speed reaching up to 30-40 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Koraput, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Khurda, Boudh, Cuttack, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj.

Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 25.05.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 26.05.2023)

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Jajpur, and Bhadrak.

Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 26.05.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 27.05.2023)

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Gajapati, Ganjam, and Kandhamal.

Day 4 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 27.05.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 28.05.2023)

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind with speed reaching up to 40-50 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Angul, Boudh, Kandhamal, and Ganjam.

Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Kalahandi, and Bolangir.

Day 5 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 28.05.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 29.05.2023)

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Boudh, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, and Bhadrak.
