Monsoon update: IMD issues heavy rainfall alert for these Odisha districts

IMD’s Regional Centre in Bhubaneswar heavy rainfall is likely to occur in some districts in 24 hours.Similarly, several parts of the State will continue to experience thunderstorm activities in the coming days. The intensity of rainfall is likely to increase from June 20, said IMD.

With the onset of monsoon over some parts of Odisha, there has been a rise in rainfall activities in the State. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday said the conditions are favourable for the advancement of southwest monsoon in more parts of the state in the next 3 days.

IMD’s Regional Centre in Bhubaneswar heavy rainfall is likely to occur in some districts in 24 hours. Similarly, several parts of the State will continue to experience thunderstorm activities in the coming days.

The intensity of rainfall is likely to increase from June 20, said IMD.

Weather forecast:

Day-1 (valid up to 0830 hrs IST of 18.06.2022)

Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Jajpur,Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Nayagarh.

Day-2 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 18.06.2022 up to 0830 hrs IST of 19.06.2022)

Yellow warning (be updated): Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Kandhamal, Boudh, Sonepur, Cuttack, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Bolangir.

Day-3 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 19.06.2022 up to 0830 hrs IST of 20.06.2022)

Yellow warning (be updated): Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Nayagarh.

Day-4 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 20.06.2022 up to 0830 hrs IST of 21.06.2022)

Yellow Warning( Be updated): Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati,Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri.

Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Ganjam, Kandhamal, Mayurbhanj

Day-5 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 21.06.2022 up to 0830 hrs IST of 22.06.2022)

Yellow warning (be updated): Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Boudh.
