The southwest monsoon has covered the entire state of Odisha, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Friday. The monsoon had first touched areas of Malkangiri, Koraput, and Gajapati districts while other parts had received pre-monsoon showers yesterday.

As per the IMD, Odisha recorded 21.3 mm of rainfall in the past 24 hours which is 139 mm more than the normal rainfall of 8.9 mm. Malkangiri district recorded the highest 51.5 mm of rainfall yesterday.

The IMD has also issued an ‘orange warning’ for heavy to very heavy rainfall in several parts of the state in the coming days.

Yellow Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Ganjam, Puri, Khordha, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack. Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Nayagarh, Boudh, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Nawarangapur, Koraput, Malkangiri.

Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 24.06.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 25.06.2023)

Yellow Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Cuttack, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj. Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur,Khordha, Puri, Nayagarh, Angul, Kandhamal, Boudh, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Sundargarh.

Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 25.06.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 26.06.2023)

Orange Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Angul, Boudh, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Bargarh, Jharsuguda.

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Nuapada, Nayagarh.

Day 4 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 26.06.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 27.06.2023)

Orange Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Angul, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Boudh, Bargarh, Bolangir, Kalahandi.

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangapur, Nuapada.
