Four days after making onset, the southwest monsoon has covered the entire Odisha, said India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday.

Initially the monsoon had touched Malkangiri, Koraput, and Nawarangpur districts and some parts of Nuapada, Kalahandi, and Rayagada districts on June 16.

Since the onset in some parts, there has been an increase in the rainfall activities in the State. The pre-monsoon activities were crucial in the further advancement of the monsoon in the State.

Earlier, the IMD’s Regional Centre in Bhubaneswar on Sunday predicted that several districts in Odisha are likely to experience heavy (7 cm to 11 cm) to very heavy (11 cm-20 cm) rainfall in the next five days. Apart from this, several parts of the State will also experience thunderstorm activities during the same period as well.
