Moderate thunderstorm activity with gusty wind likely in Odisha: IMD

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday predicted moderate thunderstorm activities with gusty winds in several parts of Odisha in the next few days. As per the IMD, a cyclonic circulation over northeast Bangladesh and neighbourhood persists.

“Under the influence of a prevailing low-level moist easterly from Bay of Bengal and middle and upper-tropospheric westerly trough, an increase in thunderstorm activity is very likely over districts of Odisha during next 4-5 days,” said IMD.

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind with speed reaching up to 40-50 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Kandhamal, Rayagada and Boudh.

Hailstorm is also likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Kandhamal, Deogarh.

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind with speed reaching up to 40-50 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri.

Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 27.04.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 28.04.2023)
