As predicted, several districts in Odisha experienced cold wave conditions following a drop in minimum temperature on Friday night.
India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday informed 19 places in Odisha recorded minimum (night) temperature below 15 degree Celsius.
As per the IMD, Phulbani in Kandhamal district recorded lowest minimum temperature of 10. 5 degrees. The twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar recorded minimum temperature of 15 and 14.5 degree Celsius, respectively.
The drop in minimum temperature created problems, especially early office goers and other commuters in different parts of the state. Shallow to moderate fog also created problems for the commuters in the early hours due to drop in visibility today.
On Friday, IMD’s regional centre in Bhubaneswar had predicted fall in minimum temperature by 2 to 3 degrees at some parts of the state in 24 hours. The IMD had also issued an alert for shallow to moderate fog in the districts of Bolangir, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Koraput and Malkangiri today.
