Once again normal life was hit following scorching heat wave conditions in Bhubaneswar as the mercury crossed the 43-degrees Celsius mark on Wednesday. As per IMD, Bhubaneswar recorded the highest maximum temperature of 43. 2 degrees by 2:30 pm.

Apart from Bhubaneswar, Jharsuguda recorded maximum temperature of 42.9, Chandbali 42.2 and Balasore recorded maximum temperature 41.4 by 2:30 pm.

No respite seems to be on the cards as the IMD has predicted further rise in the maximum temperature in different parts of Odisha.

“The maximum temperature (Day Temperature) is likely to rise by 4-6°C during next 4 to 5 days at many places over the district of Odisha,” said IMD. The IMD has also issued orange warning for severe heat wave conditions in different parts of the state.

Orange Warning: Heatwave to severe heatwave condition is  very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam.

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 KMPH is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri.

Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 25.04.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 26.04.2024)

Orange Warning: Heatwave to severe heatwave condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam.

Yellow Warning: Heatwave condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Angul, Nayagarh, Bolangir, Boudh, Nuapada , Kandhamal, Khordha, Cuttack, Dhenkanal.

Day 3(Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 26.04.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 27.04.2024)

Orange Warning: Heatwave condition is very likely to prevail at a few places over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Nuapada, Bolangir, Deogarh, Boudh, Sonepur, Malkangiri, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada.

Day 4 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 27.04.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 28.04.2024)

Orange Warning: Heatwave condition is very likely to prevail at a few places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati,Sonepur, Boudh, Deogarh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nawarangpur, Rayagada, Malkangiri with severe heatwave condition very likely to occur over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, Khordha, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Nuapda, Sonepur, Bolangir, Kalahandi.
