Several parts of Odisha are currently experiencing the third spell of heat wave. The first heat wave spell lasted for only two days, April 5 and April 6, 2024. However, the people of the state experienced intense heat wave conditions for almost 21 days in the second spell which started from April 15 to May 5.

The third spell of heat wave condition is continuing in different parts of Odisha since May 29.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday informed that there is every possibility of a drop in the maximum temperature in the coming days.

“Gradual fall in maximum temperature (day temperature) by 2 to 3 degrees C during next 3 days and no large change thereafter is expected at many places over the districts of Odisha,” informed IMD.

Day-1 (1 st June 2024)

Orange Warning: Heatwave and warm night condition is very likely to prevail in the districts of Kalahandi, Bolangir, Kandhamal, Sonepur, Sambalpur. Yellow warning:-(be updated): Heatwave condition is very likely to prevail in the districts of Boudh, Nuapada, Jharsuguda, Bargarh.

Day-2 (2nd June 2024)

Heatwave condition is very likely to prevail in the districts of Bargarh, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Bolangir, Nuapada. Hot and humid weather conditions very likely over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Khordha, Nayagarh, Puri, Ganjam, Keonjhar and Gajapati.

Day-3 to Day-5 (3rd to 5th June 2024)

Yellow warning:-(be updated): Hot and humid weather conditions very likely over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Khordha, Nayagarh, Puri, Ganjam, Keonjhar and Gajapati.
