The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday issued an ‘orange warning’ for heavy to very heavy rainfall activities in several parts of Odisha in the next few days.

As per the IMD, the low-pressure area over the Northeast and adjoining eastcentral Bay of Bengal and the associated cyclonic circulation now persist. The low-pressure area is likely to become well-marked and move northwestwards towards north Odisha and adjoining West Bengal coasts during the next 48 hours.

Day 1 (Valid upto 0830 hrs IST of 30.09.2023)

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar.

Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 30.09.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 01.10.2023)

Orange Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore.

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Khordha.

Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 01.10.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 02.10.2023)

Orange Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sonepur, Bolangir.

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Balasore, Bhadrak.

Day 4 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 02.10.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 03.10.2023)

Orange Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj.

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nuapada, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Sonepur, Boudh, Kandhamal, Angul, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Balasore.
