The well-marked low-pressure area over Northwest Bay of Bengal off North Odisha-West Bengal coasts now lies over Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining North Odisha-West Bengal coasts.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday informed that it is likely to move across Odisha and Chhattisgarh during the next two days.

Already several parts of Odisha experienced heavy rainfall activities under the influence of the low pressure area. The IMD has predicted that some districts of the state will continue to experience heavy rainfall activities till September 16, 2023.

Day 1 (Valid upto 0830 hrs IST of 15.09.2023)

Red Warning: Scattered heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20 cm) with isolated extremely heavy rainfall (>20cm) very likely to occur over the districts of Bolangir, Kalahandi, Sonepur, Bargarh, Nuapada, Sambalpur.

Orange Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nabarangpur, Kandhamal, Boudh, Cuttack, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Angul, Dhenkanal.

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Koraput, Nayagarh, Jajpur, Rayagada.

Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 15.09.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 16.09.2023)

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh.

Day 5 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 18.09.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 19.09.2023)

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Ganjam.
