The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday predicted heavy rainfall activities in several parts Odisha under the influence of the low pressure area in the next 24 hours.

IMD has issued an ‘orange warning’ for heavy to very heavy rainfall in seven districts of Odisha. The warning has been issued for the districts of Bolangir, Bargarh, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh and Deogarh. The alert will remain valid till tomorrow morning.

As per IMD, yesterday's low pressure area over northwest Bay of Bengal off north Odisha-West Bengal coasts now lies over Northwest Bay of Bengal adjoining north Odisha-West Bengal coasts, with the associated cyclonic circulation extending up to 5.8 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height.

It is very likely to move west north westwards across north Odisha and north Chhattisgarh during the next two days.

Orange warning (Be prepared) Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bolangir, Bargarh, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh and Deogarh

Yellow Warning (Be updated) Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nawarangpur, Nuapada, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kalahandi, Boudh, Angul, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.

Day-2: Valid from 0830 Hrs IST of 21.09.22 to 0830 Hrs IST of 22.09.22

Yellow Warning (Be updated) Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Nawarangpur, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Bolangir, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, and Sundargarh.
