A cyclonic circulation lies over the northeast and adjoining East-central Bay of Bengal. Under its influence a low-pressure area is likely to form over north Bay of Bengal around August 18, said the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday.
As per the IMD, light to moderate rainfall has occurred at several places in Odisha. There is a possibility of heavy rainfall in some parts of the state in the coming days.
The IMD has also issued an ‘orange warning’ for heavy to very heavy rainfall in some districts of Odisha.

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur.
Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 17.08.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 18.08.2023)
Orange Warning: Heavy to very rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Khordha, Cuttack, Angul, Sambalpur.
Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar ,Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Deogarh, Bargarh, Boudh, Sonepur, Nawarangpur, Malkangiri, Koraput.

Orange Warning: Heavy to very rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Bolangir, Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Malkangiri, Koraput.
Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati,Sonepur, Boudh, Rayagada, Cuttack, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Jharsuguda.
