Low pressure to move across south Odisha- Chhattisgarh; Check IMD’s rain forecast

As per IMD, the north-south trough from the cyclonic circulation associated with the low-pressure area over central parts of North Bay of Bengal to north coastal Andhra Pradesh has become less marked.

IMD Issues Heavy Rainfall Forecast For Odisha

The Low Pressure Area over central parts of the North Bay of Bengal now lies over the Northwest and adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday said that the low-pressure area is likely to become more marked during the next 24 hours.

The low-pressure area is likely to move across south Odisha and south Chhattisgarh during the next three days. As per IMD, the north-south trough from the cyclonic circulation associated with the low-pressure area over central parts of North Bay of Bengal to north coastal Andhra Pradesh has become less marked.

Weather Forecast And Warning

Day 1 (Valid upto 0830 hrs IST of 14.09.2023)

Red Warning: Scattered heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20 cm) with isolated extremely heavy (>20cm) over the districts of Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Boudh, Sonepur, Bolangir.

Orange Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Angul, Ganjam.

Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 14.09.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 15.09.2023)

Orange Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) very likely to occur at a one or two places over the districts of Kalahandi, Nuapada, Bolangir, Bargarh, Kandhamal, Boudh, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Nabarangpur, Ganjam.

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nayagarh, Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Gajapati, Cuttack, Angul.

Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 15.09.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 16.09.2023)

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Bargarh, Bolangir, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar.

Day 4 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 16.09.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 17.09.2023)

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Gajapati, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur.
