Low pressure to intensify into depression in 36 hours; heavy rain alert for Odisha

Low pressure to intensify into depression

The low pressure area over westcentral and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal off north Andhra Pradesh and South Odisha moved west-northwestwards and became a well marked over the same region, informed the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday.

As per IMD, it is likely to move further west-northwestwards towards north Andhra Pradesh and adjoining south Odisha coasts, and intensify into a depression over westcentral and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal during the next 36 hours.

Earlier, the IMD issued heavy rainfall warning for some districts in Odisha. A red warning for extremely heavy rainfall for some districts has been issued by the weather agency on Thursday.
