A cyclonic circulation is likely to form over the Northwest Bay of Bengal around July 16, 2023. Under its influence, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the same region during the subsequent two to three days, informed India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday.

As per IMD, the western end of the monsoon trough at mean sea level lies south of its normal position and the eastern end lies north of its normal position.

The IMD has also predicted that heavy to very heavy rainfall over Uttarakhand and heavy rainfall over Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh is likely to continue during the next five days. Similarly, there will be an increase in rainfall activity over East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Konkan, and Goa from July 17, 2023.
