A cyclonic circulation lies over southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining south Andaman Sea and under its influence, a low pressure area is likely to form over southeast Bay of Bengal during the next 24 hours, predicted India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday.

As per IMD, the system is likely to move west-northwest wards and concentrate into a Depression. It will centralize at the north Tamil Nadu coast on November 11, said IMD DG Mrutyunjay Mohapatra.

Mohapatra said Chennai recorded heavy to very heavy rains in the past 24 hours and the intensity to be slightly less today. “Tamil Nadu and adjoining south Andhra Pradesh will experience heavy to very heavy rainfall on November 10 and 11. The rainfall activity will decrease on November 12 when this low-pressure area travels towards the west,” said Mohapatra.

Meanwhile, IMD’s regional centre in Bhubaneswar predicted that several parts of Odisha will experience light to moderate rainfall and thunderstorm activities between November 10 and 13.
