Bhubaneswar: The low pressure area over Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal coasts will become more marked in the next 24 hours, said the India Metrological Department (IMD) on Friday.

The conditions are favourable for further advancement of the Southwest Monsoon into remaining parts of Odisha during next 48 hours.

According to IMD, several districts in north coastal and interior and south Odisha experienced light to moderate rain/ thunderstorm in the past 24 hours. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Jajpur, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Angul, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Boudh, Bolangir in the next 24 hours.

Similarly, heavy to very heavy rainfall with extremely heavy falls at one or two places is very likely to occur over the districts of Sambalpur, Sonepur, Bolangir, Boudh, Bargarh and Angul in the next 48 hours, predicted IMD.

Orange Warning(To be prepared): Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Deogarh.
