IMD issues heavy rainfall alert for Odisha
The office of the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) on Friday asked collectors of 13 districts to take appropriate action as there is a possibility of heavy rainfall and a flood-like situation in north Odisha under the impact of a low-pressure area.
The low-pressure area was formed today over the North Bay of Bengal and adjoining Coastal areas of Bangladesh and Gangetic West Bengal under the influence of cyclonic circulation. It is likely to move west-north-west wards across Gangetic West Bengal and Jharkhand during the next two days.
“Under its impact, there may be heavy rain and flood-like situation in the north Odisha. Therefore, it is requested to review the preparedness at the district level, take appropriate action and intimate the situation of the district from time to time,” the official SRC letter read.
Day 1 (Valid upto 0830 hrs IST of 27.07.2024)
Yellow Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20 cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Bhadrak, Angul, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar.
Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Puri, Khordha, Sundargarh, Nayagarh, Boudh, Sonepur, Bolangir, Nuapada, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur ,Balasore, Jajpur, Jharsuguda.
Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 27.07.2024to 0830 hrs IST of 28.07.2024)
Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall(7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kandhamal, Cuttack, Sonepur, Bargarh, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Nawarangpur, Koraput, Nayagarh.
Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 28.07.2024to 0830 hrs IST of 29.07.2024)
Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nuapada, Bolangir, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Kalahandi, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Mayurbhanj.
Day 4 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 29.07.2024to 0830 hrs IST of 30.07.2024)
Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occurat one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Sundargarh , Jharsuguda.
