With the India Meteorological Department forecasting the intensification of a low-pressure system over Bay of Bengal in two days time, the Odisha Special Relief Commissioner has issued an alert for the district administrative heads of all districts.

As per the midday bulletin issued by the IMD's Regional Met Centre in Bhubaneswar, the cyclonic circulation over the North Andaman Sea & neighbourhood persists and now extends upto 4.5 km above mean sea level.

Under the influence of this cyclonic circulation, a low-pressure area is likely to form over east-central Bay of Bengal & adjoining north Andaman Sea during next 48 hours

After intensification, the system is likely to move west-northwestwards and reach south Odisha-north Andhra Pradesh coasts during subsequent 24 hours.

The IMD has issued detailed forecast and warning for the entire State for the next five days. According to the bulletin, no warning has been issued for Odisha till October 15. However, a forecast of light to moderate rainfall and thunderstorm activity has been sounded for several districts of the State during the period.

From the period of October 15 to October 17, the weather agency has issued Yellow Warning for several districts as per the table highlighted below.
