Low pressure off Sri Lanka coast around Nov 9 likely to intensify: IMD

As per India Meteorological Department, the system is likely to move northwestwards towards Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coasts with possible slight intensification during subsequent 48 hours.

Low Pressure Likely Around November 9

 All eyes will now be on the low pressure area which is likely to form over southwest Bay of Bengal off Sri Lanka coast around November 9, 2022.

As per India Meteorological Department, the system is likely to move northwestwards towards Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coasts with possible slight intensification during subsequent 48 hours.

As per IMD, a fresh western disturbance is also likely to affect Western Himalayan Region from November 9.

Scattered/fairly widespread light/moderate rainfall/snowfall likely over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit Baltistan and Muzaffarabad and Himachal Pradesh November 6, 7, 9 and 10.

Isolated light/moderate rainfall/snowfall over Uttarakhand on November 6 and 7 and isolated light rainfall over Punjab on November 6 and 7, 2022.

Isolated heavy rainfall/snowfall is also likely over Kashmir Valley today.

Cyclonic Circulation

A cyclonic circulation lies over southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining Equatorial Indian Ocean and an east-west trough runs from Comorin area to this cyclonic circulation in lower tropospheric levels.

Forecast

Fairly widespread/ light/moderate rainfall with isolated heavy falls and thunderstorm/lightning very likely to continue over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal and Kerala on November 6 and decrease in rainfall activity over many parts of south Peninsular India thereafter for subsequent 2-3 days
