The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday informed that a cyclonic circulation lies over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Coastal Odisha.

A low pressure area is likely to form over northwest Bay of Bengal under its influence during the next 48 hours. Moreover, the monsoon trough at mean sea level now passes through Bikaner, Narnaul, Shivpuri, Mandla, Ambikapur, Chandbali, and thence southeastwards to the Westcentral Bay of Bengal.

As per the IMD, several parts of Odisha will experience heavy to very heavy rainfall in the coming days. An orange warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall has also been issued for several districts.

Day-1: (Valid up to 0830 Hrs IST of 19.07.23)

Orange Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur and Kalahandi.

Day-2: (Valid from 0830 Hrs IST of 19.07.2023 to 0830 Hrs IST of 20.07.2023.)

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nuapada, Nayagarh, Khordha, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Dhenkanal and Angul.

Day-3: (Valid from 0830 Hrs IST of 20.07.2023 to 0830 Hrs IST of 21.07.2023)

Orange Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Khordha, Cuttack, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sambalpur and Bargarh.

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Ganjam, Nayagarh, Boudh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Sonepur, Deogarh, Nabarangpur, Kendrapada, Bhadrak and Jajpur.

Day-4: (Valid from 0830 Hrs IST of 21.07.2023 to 0830 Hrs IST of 22.07.2023)

Orange Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, Bolangir, Sonepur, Sambalpur, and Bargarh.

Day-5: (Valid from 0830 Hrs IST of 22.07.2023 to 0830 Hrs IST of 23.07.2023)

Orange Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Bargarh, Jharsuguda and Sambalpur.
