A low pressure area has formed over southeast Bay of Bengal under the influence of a cyclonic circulation, said India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday.

The Met department predicts that the system is likely to concentrate into a depression over southwest and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal during the next 36 hours. It is likely to move west–northwest-wards and reach near north Tamil Nadu coast by the early morning of November 11, 2021.

As per the latest IMD forecast, heavy to very heavy rainfall with isolated heavy rain is likely to occur in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal during November 9 and 11 and over coastal Andhra Pradesh on November 11.

“The fishermen are advised not to venture into Southwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal and along and off south Andhra Pradesh-Tamil Nadu coasts and Gulf of Mannar during next 4 days,” IMD’s forecast read.
