 A low pressure area has formed over westcentral Bay of Bengal and its adjoining areas, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Monday.

As per IMD, the low pressure area has formed under the influence westcentral adjoining north-western Bay of Bengal area.

Earlier, the cyclonic circulation over Westcentral Bay of Bengal off Andhra Pradesh coast and another cyclonic circulation over Northeast Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood merged together.

The IMD has predicted an increase in rainfall activities in different parts of Odisha from today.

“The associated cyclonic circulation extends upto 5.8 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height. It is very likely to move westnorthwestwards towards Andhra Pradesh coast during next 2 days,” said IMD.

Yellow Warning (Be updated) Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Nayagarh, Khordha, Puri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Malkangiri, and Koraput.

Day-2: (Valid from 0830 Hrs IST of 04.10.22 to 0830 Hrs IST of 05.10.22)

Yellow Warning (Be updated) Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Gajapati, and Ganjam.

Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Puri, Khordha, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Balasore, Bhadrak and Nayagarh.

Day-3: (Valid from 0830 Hrs IST of 05.10.22 to 0830 Hrs IST of 06.10.22)

Yellow Warning (Be updated) Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Mayurbhanj, and Balasore.

Day-4: (Valid from 0830 Hrs IST of 06.10.22 to 0830 Hrs IST of 07.10.22)

Yellow Warning (Be updated) Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Bolangir, Bargarh, Jharsuguda and Sundergarh.
