The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday said that the depression, which is the remnant of cyclonic Storm ‘Gulab’, has weakened into a well-marked low pressure area over the western parts of Vidarbha and neigbourhood.

As per IMD, a low pressure area has formed over northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of West Bengal under the influence of the cyclonic circulation over northeast and adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal.

“The associated cyclonic circulation extends up to mid-tropospheric levels. It is likely to become more marked during next 24 hours,” said IMD.

IMD has also predicted rain and thunderstorm activities for several parts of Odisha in the next 24 hours. Similarly, heavy rainfall is also likely to occur in several parts of the State in the next two days.

Weather forecast and warning for districts of Odisha for next four days:

Day 1(Valid up to 0830 hrs IST of 29.09.2021)

Yellow Warning (To be updated): Heavy rainfall is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, Jajpur and Kendrapada. Thunderstorm with lightning warning has been issued for the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack,Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal and Kandhamal.

Day-2 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 29.09.2021 up to 0830 hrs IST of 30.09.2021)

Orange warning (Be prepared): Heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places is very likely to occur over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Sundargarh.

Yellow Warning (To be updated): Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Deogarh, Angul, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore and Dhenkanal. Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Boudh,Sambalpur and Jharsuguda.

Day-3 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 30.09.2021 up to 0830 hrs IST of 01.10.2021)

Yellow Warning (To be updated): Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda and Bargarh.

Day-4 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 01.10.2021 up to 0830 hrs IST of 02.10.2021)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Odisha.
