Low pressure forms; likely to move across Jharkhand, north Chhattisgarh in next 2 to 3 days: IMD

Under the influence of yesterday's upper air cyclonic circulation over Gangetic West Bengal and neighborhood, a low-pressure area has formed over same region, informed the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday.

The associated cyclonic circulation extended upto 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height. It is likely to move slowly west-northwestwards across Jharkhand and north Chhattisgarh during next 2-3 days, the IMD said.

“Scattered to broken low and medium clouds with embedded intense to very intense convection lay over North and Eastcentral Bay of Bengal and North Andaman Sea Scattered low and medium clouds with embedded isolate moderate to intense convection lay over Westcentral Bay of Bengal and South Andaman Sea,” said IMD.

Red Warning: (Take Action)- Extremely heavy rain and thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, and Sambalpur.

Orange Warning: (Be Prepared)- Very heavy rain and thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Bolangir, Subarnapur, Boudh, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kandhamal, and Kalahandi.

Yellow Warning: (Be Aware)- Heavy rain and thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Nuapada, Rayagada, Koraput, Nabarangpur, and Malkangiri.

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over the districts of Odisha.

Orange Warning: (Be Prepared)- Very heavy rain and thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Angul, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, and Nuapada.

Yellow Warning: (Be Aware)- Heavy rain and thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bolangir, Subarnapur, Boudh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nayagarh, Cuttack, and Dhenkanal.
