11 places reported very heavy and 18 others reported heavy rainfall in the past 24 hours, informed India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday. As per IMD, Jharsuguda's Kirmara reported extremely heavy rainfall with 215 mm, followed by 184.8 mm in Laikera in the district.

It is pertinent to mention here that several parts of Odisha witnessed moderate to heavy rainfall activities on Saturday. Even the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar reported acute waterlogging conditions yesterday.

Bonaigarh (Sundargarh): 118 mm

Kaptipada (Mayurbhanj): 113 mm

Baliguda (Kandhamal): 101 mm

Meanwhile, the IMD has also predicted enhanced rainfall activities in Odisha in the coming days. A fresh cyclonic circulation is likely to form over Northwest Bay of Bengal around July 18, 2023. An orange warning has also been issued by the IMD for seven districts in Odisha today.
