The southwest Monsoon has further advanced into entire Westcentral Bay of Bengal, most parts of northwest Bay of Bengal, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand and Bihar, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Saturday.

The conditions are favorable for further advance of monsoon into some more parts of Madhya Pradesh, remaining parts of Vidarbha, Andhra Pradesh and northwest Bay of Bengal, some more parts of of Chhattisgarh and Odisha, some more parts of Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand and Bihar and northeast Uttar Pradesh during the next 2-3 days.

Rainfall/thunderstorm forecast & warnings:

Under the influence of strong southerly/southwesterly winds from Bay of Bengal to Northeast & adjoining East India: Widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur over Northeast India and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim during next 3 days.

Isolated heavy rainfall is likely to continue over Assam & Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura during subsequent 2 days.

Isolated extremely heavy rainfall also is very likely to occur over Assam & Meghalaya on June 18 and over Meghalaya on June 19, 2022.

Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with thunderstorm/lightning is very likely over Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal during next 5 days.

Isolated heavy rainfall is likely over Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal during June 18 to 20 and over Odisha on June 18 & over Odisha during June 20 -22.
