A cyclonic circulation lies over the East Equatorial Indian Ocean, informed the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday. As per the IMD, another cyclonic circulation lies over the Southeast and adjoining East-central Arabian Sea, and a trough runs from this cyclonic circulation to south Gujarat in lower tropospheric levels.

Under the influence of the above systems, light to moderate rainfall at some places is very likely over Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Coastal Karnataka, and Lakshadweep during the next three days.

Apart from this, a western disturbance seen as a cyclonic circulation over Haryana persists. IMD informed that light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is very likely at isolated places over Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra on January 9 and 10 and over Gujarat on January 9 under its influence.

Cold Conditions and Weather Updates

Cold day to severe cold day conditions are likely to continue over Northwest India during the next 24 hours and abate thereafter.

Isolated light rainfall is likely over Northwest and Central India on January 9 and dry weather thereafter.

Light to moderate rainfall spell is likely over south Peninsular India with isolated heavy rainfall over Tamil Nadu and Kerala during the next 24 hours and to substantial decrease thereafter.
