The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted moderate thunderstorm activity with lightning and gusty surface wind over the districts of Odisha during the next five days. As per IMD, a fresh active western disturbance is likely to affect India from March 16, 2023.

“Due to likely interaction of middle tropospheric westerly trough with lower level easterly, and moisture incursion from Bay of Bengal, conditions are becoming favourable for moderate thunderstorm activity with lightning, gusty surface wind and scattered rainfall to fairly widespread rainfall over the districts of Odisha within next 5 days,” said IMD.

The IMD’s Regional Centre in Bhubaneswar has also advised people to keep watch on the weather and take safe shelter during thunderstorm activity for protection from lightning and follow traffic advisories in urban areas.
