IMD predicts thunderstorm, lightning and heavy rainfall in some Odisha districts

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday issued an alert for thunderstorm with lightning in several parts of Odisha in the coming days.

A yellow warning has also been issued for several districts. Apart from thunderstorm and lightning, the IMD has also issued a warning for heavy rainfall in some parts of the state.

The heavy rainfall activities are likely to occur till September 15, 2024.

Yellow Warning:

Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda.

Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 12.09.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 13.09.2024)

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati,Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh.

Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 13.09.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 14.09.2024)

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) and thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar.

Day 4 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 14.09.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 15.09.2024)

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) and thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Sambalpur, Angul, Bargarh, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh.
