The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday issued an alert for severe cold wave conditions in several states in the next 48 hours.

As per the latest IMD bulletin, severe cold wave conditions are very likely to prevail in some parts over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi on December 27 and over West Uttar Pradesh on December 27 and December 28, 2022.

Similarly, cold wave/severe cold wave conditions are also very likely in isolated pockets over north Rajasthan during the next two days. Cold wave conditions are likely in isolated pockets over Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi during the next 24 hours.

The weather agency further stated that there will be a gradual rise in minimum temperature by 2 to 4 degrees over the plains of Northwest India during the next three days and fall by 2- 4 degrees thereafter. A fall in minimum temperature by 3-5 degree Celsius is also likely over many parts of East India during the next three days and no significant change thereafter, said IMD.

Fog Warning

Dense to very dense fog very likely to continue over many parts of Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh and in isolated pockets over north Rajasthan during next 24 hours. However, dense fog in isolated pockets likely to continue over the above region during subsequent 3-4 days.

Dense fog very likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during the next three days.
