IMD predicts severe cold conditions in some Indian states; check updates on Low Pressure

A low pressure area currently lies over Southeast Arabian Sea, informed Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday. Moreover, it is likely to move nearly northwards and become well well-marked low pressure area over Southeast Arabian Sea during the next 24 hours.

In its daily bulletin, IMD informed that a cyclonic circulation lies over northwest Uttar Pradesh in lower tropospheric levels. The weather agency has predicted that cold day to severe cold conditions are likely to prevail in several parts of the country in coming days.

Cold day to severe cold day conditions are very likely in many parts over Punjab, Haryana on January 1 and 2; in some parts on 3rd and cold day conditions in isolated pockets on 4th & 5th January 2024.

Cold day to severe cold day conditions very likely in some parts over Uttar Pradesh and in isolated pockets over West Rajasthan on January 1 and January 2, 2024.

Dense to very dense fog conditions very likely to prevail during night and morning hours in some parts over Punjab during 1st -5th January, 2024.

Dense to very dense fog conditions very likely to prevail during night and morning hours in some parts over Haryana & Chandigarh during 1st-3rd January and in isolated pockets thereafter for the subsequent two days.
