IMD predicts rise in minimum temperature in northwest, central and East India in next 3 days
There will be a gradual rise in the minimum temperatures by 2 to 3 degree C over Northwest, central and East India during the next three days and no significant change thereafter, informed India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday.
Similarly, there will be no significant change in the minimum and maximum temperatures over rest parts of the country during next five days. The maximum temperatures are likely to remain above normal by 2- degree over south peninsular India during the next 4 to 5 days.
As per IMD, a cyclonic circulation lies over northeast Bangladesh and neighbourhood in lower level and under its influence, isolated to scattered light rainfall/snowfall activity is likely over Arunachal Pradesh during 9th-15th February increasing to widespread rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm and lightning during 11th-13th February with isolated heavy rainfall on 11th and 12th February.
A western disturbance is seen as a cyclonic circulation in lower and middle tropospheric levels over north Afghanistan and neighbourhood. The Subtropical westerly Jet Stream with core winds of the order up to 110 knots at 12.6 km above mean sea level prevails over Northeast India. Under their influence, isolated to scattered light rainfall/snowfall activity is likely over Western Himalayan Region during 9th-11th February, informed IMD.
Dense Fog Warnings:
Dense fog conditions are very likely to continue to prevail during early morning hours in isolated pockets of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on 9th February; Gangetic West Bengal on 10th & 11th February; south Odisha on 9th and 10th February.
