Even though there will be no major change in weather conditions, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday predicted fresh spells of dense to very dense fog and isolated cold wave conditions over northwest India from January 15, 2023.

As per the IMD, the minimum temperature is likely to fall by 2 to 3 degrees in East India after three days. Similarly, there will be a gradual fall in minimum temperatures by 3-6 degrees over Gujarat by January 15 and no significant changes thereafter.

Cold wave to severe cold wave conditions are likely over some parts of North Rajasthan while cold wave conditions are expected in isolated pockets over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana & Chandigarh on January 15, 16 and 17 and over Interior Karnataka on January 13 and 14 and over Madhya Pradesh on January 16 and 17.

Fog and Cold Warning

Dense fog is very likely in isolated pockets during night & morning hours over Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal & Sikkim, Odisha, Assam & Meghalaya and Tripura during 13th -14th January 2023. A fresh spell of dense to very dense fog is very likely in isolated/some pockets during night and morning hours over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi and Uttar Pradesh during January 14 to 17th.

Dense Fog is very likely in isolated pockets over Jammu division, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand during January 15th to 17th and over North Madhya Pradesh during Jan 16th & Jan 17th.

Cold day conditions are also very likely in isolated pockets over West Uttar Pradesh during January 15th and 16th; over East Uttar Pradesh on January 12th, 15th and 16th and over Bihar on January 13th and January 14th.
